A Washington, D.C. expansion bill for medical cannabis was passed by Congress. It eliminates license caps and provides 280E tax relief. Patients can self-certify without the need for doctors. Equity is prioritized. On-site consumption facilities are allowed. Enforcement against unlicensed sellers is also possible.

Three states’ lawmakers have approved bills to legalize safe drinking areas for illegal drugs.

The Washington State House Regulated Substances and Gaming Committee voted in favor of a bill that was passed by the Senate to legalize interstate marijuana commerce.

After failing to receive a House hearing by the key deadline, Hawaii’s Senate-passed marijuana legalization legislation will not be enacted this year. However, advocates believe the measure will still be considered in the second half in 2024.

A bill was passed by the Hawaii Senate Health and Human Services Committee to establish a Breakthrough Therapy Designation Advisory Council. This council would examine the therapeutic effects of psychedelics such as MDMA and psilocybin.

The Michigan Attorney General issued warrants for 12 individuals suspected of being involved in more than 20 break-ins at marijuana dispensaries across the state. He stated that these incidents are a reminder that Congress must pass cannabis banking legislation.

Sherrod Brown, D-OH, Chairman of Senate Banking Committee said that the focus on recent bank failures does not mean long-term delays for cannabis banking legislation. “But it means delays a few weeks.”

Denver Riggleman, a former Rep. from Virginia, tweeted: “I think there might be a correlation zwischen psychedelics…and Bigfoot sightings…and abductions. And those who use the term ‘globalist’ all the time. ‘”

Governor of South Dakota Kristi Noem (R), vetoed legislation that would have allowed hemp products to contain up to 5% THC.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D), announced that the state’s Capital Region’s first adult-use marijuana dispensary will open in April. Separately, a top regulator discussed efforts to legalize recreational cannabis sales.

A Joint Legislative Audit Committee of California authorized an investigation into possible corruption in relation to cannabis licensing.

Georgia’s Senate Committee on Regulated Industries and Utilities voted in favor of a House bill to amend the rules for medical cannabis. However, it removed provisions that would have allowed additional production licenses to be issued. It heard legislation to amend hemp rules.

A hearing was held by the Connecticut legislature’s Public Health Committee on a bill that would allow safe consumption of illegal drugs.

North Carolina Representative is about to file a bill for research funding on the therapeutic potential psychotropic drugs.

Senator from Massachusetts discussed his bill for more transparency and accountability in marijuana regulations.

The Tuesday meeting of Nevada’s Cannabis Compliance Board is scheduled.
