Next week, the Pennsylvania House Health Subcommittee on Health Care will hold a hearing on the legalization of marijuana. This is a sign that the issue could finally progress under the new Democratic majority in the chamber. The chair is considering state-run dispensaries, and plans to introduce a bill following a series hearings.

The New Hampshire commission tasked with drafting a bill that would legalize the sale of marijuana through state-run shops unveiled its draft and began to go through all the details, a little over a month before it is due to be presented to legislators.

New York Office of Cannabis Management has published a factsheet to counter “misinformation”, such as marijuana being laced fentanyl.

Denver officials reported that since 2010, the city generated more than $500 millions in marijuana revenue. The money from cannabis sales will be used to fund affordable housing, education and opioid intervention, among other services.

According to a new study by the American Chemical Society, contrary to the conventional wisdom about cannabis, terpenes “are not the driving force” behind the unique aroma differences between marijuana strains. Flavorants, which are separate compounds, play a significant role.

Jamaal Bowman, (D-NY), tweeted: “America imprisons more people than any other country in the world.” I was proud of my community members for calling for decriminalization in NY and throughout the country. This will stop the targeting of marginalized groups and end our prison industrial complex.

“Washington, D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser proposed legislation to address loitering near open-air drug markets.

The Arkansas Legislative Council Medical Marijuana Oversight Subcommittee has discussed the control that out-of state investors have over the medical cannabis industry in Arkansas.

Next week, Oregon legislators and other officials from Oregon will travel to Portugal to study Portugal’s drug decriminalization policies.

A Nebraska senator encourages people to sign petitions for medical cannabis initiatives to be placed on the ballot in 2024.

A senator from Ohio wrote an op-ed in which he argued against the legalization of marijuana on the November 7, 2016 ballot.

Georgia regulators have conducted their first inspection of a pharmacy that is interested in selling medical cannabis.

The Illinois Adult Use Cannabis Health Advisory Committee oversaw an annual report finding that since legalization went into effect there has been a rise in marijuana-involved deadly car crashes and accidental ingestion by children, but no increase in youth use and a decrease in opioid and benzodiazepine-related fatalities.

Missouri regulators have released more marijuana products that were placed on administrative hold or recalled.
