ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE), – The state’s Cannabis Control Division has taken action against another cannabis company. Golden Roots is accused of transporting illegally acquired cannabis, failing to comply with a subpoena requesting surveillance videos, and other violations.
In a press statement, CCD Director Todd Stevens stated that “the violations committed by this licensee demonstrate a flagrant disregard for the Cannabis Regulation Act as well as the laws which all licensees must adhere to in New Mexico.” “Our compliance officers are continuing to perform daily inspections and follow up on complaints in order to eliminate all bad actors within the New Mexico cannabis sector.”
CCD compliance officers visited the facility of the business in Albuquerque. CCD officials say they did not find any evidence that cannabis was grown in the facility despite the fact that the product listed the location as being where it had been grown.
Golden Roots, which was accused of misrepresenting their legal cannabis with illegal cannabis, was invited to a hearing in order to address the allegations. The hearing officer revoked Golden Roots’ cannabis licence after the accused failed to appear.
CCD reports that the business also received fines of $298,972.05 for income earned by selling illegal products. The money will be put into a fund to support New Mexico’s public schools. CCD has revoked the license of three cannabis businesses, but this is the first time that such hefty fines have been imposed.
