This year, the federal National Survey on Drug Use and Health includes new marijuana questions about consumption methods like edibles, dabs and CBD products. The government is acknowledging that cannabis policy is evolving. Health and Human Services Sec. Xavier Becerra tweeted it at 4:20.

A group of twenty congressional Democrats led by Sens. Elizabeth Warren (DMA), Jeff Merkley, Raphael Warnock and Earl Blumenauer sent a letter to the Treasury Department asking it to update its 2014 marijuana banking guidelines to remove restrictions for business owners with prior cannabis convictions.

Dean Phillips, a 2024 Democratic Presidential candidate Dean Phillips, said that President Joe Biden would be better off smoking marijuana to understand the “hypocritical laws” which allow people to drink alcohol at work and in the White House but others are sent away for cannabis.

New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports has published new guidelines advising drug treatment providers not to test for marijuana, unless the patient is explicitly stating that they want to stop using cannabis. According to a spokesperson for Marijuana Moment, the “same principle regarding alcohol” is now being applied since cannabis is legal.

Jason Stephens, Ohio House Speaker (R), said that lawmakers do not need to rush in making changes to the marijuana legalization laws approved by voters. This is contrary to Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, wants to amend the law before it takes effect. One representative has already introduced a bill that would redirect cannabis revenues to police training.

Transform Drug Policy Foundation has published a guide that outlines post-legalization regulatory model for psychedelics. The foundation says the public discourse on psychedelics to date is too focused on medical access, while neglecting their other uses.

Enthea Insurance, which bills itself as the “first and only licensed provider for psychedelic health plan,” has announced that they will cover psilocybin assisted therapy in all states that allow it.

The study also found that the use of non-medical opioids was lower when medical marijuana was legalized, indicating possible substitution effects by partial replacement of opioids with cannabis.

A Mississippi medical cannabis business owner has filed a federal suit against the state regulators, claiming that advertising restrictions in Mississippi violate his First Amendment right.

The Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission has granted additional licenses to companies to produce low THC medical cannabis oil.

The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals will consider a motion that would prevent regulators from using scores for previous medical cannabis business applications to award licenses to a new round.

Rep. Morgan Luttrell, R-TX, tweeted: “Our veterans need an innovative and non-addictive therapy for PTSD, TBI and other combat-related injury.” “Psychedelic therapy” is exactly that. I hope the VA will lead on this.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), spoke on the search for a state-wide marijuana regulator.

The Kentucky legislature’s Administrative Regulations Review Subcommittee has approved rules for hemp-derived cannabinoid product.

The Missouri Joint Committee on Administrative Rules has published a report that raises questions about the implementation and enforcement of marijuana regulations.

The Florida Senate Agriculture Committee conducted a hearing about intoxicating products derived from hemp.

Massachusetts activists have reportedly been scrambling to gather additional signatures in order to qualify for a ballot initiative legalizing psychedelics due technical mistakes with previous submissions.

Utah regulators have revised their medical cannabis regulations.

On tape, a New York regulator admitted that they are aware of brands obtaining products illegally from outside the state. However, officials do not plan to crack down on this practice because it would “further cripple” the market.

Maine regulators found that 42 percent of the medical cannabis samples tested contained at least one contamination.

The Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security has requested increased funding in order to help it fulfill its role of regulating marijuana.

On November 30, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) will begin accepting applications to its second phase of the Cannabis Equity Grant Program.
