According to new federal data released by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services administration, states with the highest cannabis treatment admission rates are those where marijuana is still illegal.

The Ohio Senate General Government Committee has advanced a bill that would gut the voters’ approved marijuana legalization law. This includes repealing the home grow right, criminalizing use and possession cannabis obtained from outside a licensed retailer. It also reduces possession limits and increases taxes.

The Bundestag in Germany has delayed the vote on marijuana legalization that was scheduled for this week. Due to the concerns of leaders in the Social Democratic Party the cannabis legislation will not be advanced until next year.

Wisconsin legislators from both parties are looking for co-sponsors of a new decriminalization marijuana bill.

New Hampshire legislators have pre-filed bills to be introduced in 2024 that will legalize home cultivation of medical cannabis and include eating disorders as a qualifying condition. Other legislators are requesting that legislation be written to allow recreational marijuana use and psychedelics as therapeutic drugs.

Veterans groups, including Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to make sure the marijuana scheduling is “completed in a timely fashion” while ensuring that Congress “builds upon this historic progress.”
