Bipartisan group of 50 House of Representatives and Senate members sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick G. Garland demanding answers about the possible link between the legalization of marijuana in states and the “proliferation of illicit cannabis farms” linked to the Chinese Community Party, including whether or not the operators had bank accounts.

Federal
Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, wrote a blog on the need to eliminate stigma surrounding drug abuse issues. She said that, “even though medical science has changed their views on addiction, social structures and policies have lagged behind in a science-based approach.”
The U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, overturned a lower-court ruling that cleared Los Angeles County Child and Family Services officials of claims of intentional infliction of mental distress and judicial fraud brought by parents after their daughter had been removed from their custody because they used medical cannabis to treat severe autism.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, (D-NY), tweeted: “Keeping marijuana classified in Schedule I is out of sync with medical research and state law as well as public opinion.” It’s for this reason that I, along with 11 of my colleagues, called on the Biden Administration to de-schedule marijuana and legalize it completely.
Sen. Peter Welch, (D-VT), tweeted: “Criminalizing cannabis at the federal level harms communities, contradicts State laws, and is in step with public sentiment.” It’s for this reason that I urged the Biden Administration, along with my colleagues @SenWarrenPA and @SenFettermanPA to de-schedule marijuana completely.”

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly (D), tweeted: “We must decriminalize the use of medical marijuana to relieve Kansans from chronic pain, and other disorders such as PTSD.” This relief has been long overdue, and it would boost our economy. It’s time we work together to get this done.
