The Virginia Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee’s amendments could derail a bipartisan compromise to legalize the sale of recreational marijuana.
New Hampshire senators have said that they won’t support a bill passed by the House to legalize pot unless it includes state control of the cannabis industry, even though the representative who sponsored the legislation claims this model would not be feasible.
Sponsor of the bill says it is dead. A Florida bill that would cap THC levels in recreational marijuana preemptively in case voters approved a legalization measure in November has been killed for this session.
New polling shows that the majority of Alaskans would support a ballot measure to remove criminal penalties from psychedelics. This result comes at a time when lawmakers are considering legislation that will create a taskforce to make recommendations about licensing therapeutic access.
The results of a new, double-blind, study showed that the less-known cannabinoid, THCV, “significantly increased motivation, energy and well-being when compared with placebo”, without the fatigue or “munchies”, associated with the delta-9 THC compound, which is the most prominent component in marijuana.
A new case study suggests that cannabis therapy “may be a viable alternative or complementary therapy” for dogs suffering from the common skin disease discoid lupus erythematosus–“particularly for those experiencing adverse effects from conventional treatments.”

The South Dakota House Health and Human Services Committee has approved a bill that will remove certain legal protections for medical cannabis businesses. Separately the House Local Government Committee has approved legislation clarifying which governing bodies are able to license medical marijuana operators.
Oregon legislators continue to examine legislation that would recriminalize possession of drugs.
Ohio regulators have posted proposed marijuana regulations for public comment.
Missouri regulators have issued guidelines on the use of terms “sativa,” “indica” or “hybrids” on marijuana packaging.
Colorado regulators have updated the list pesticides which can be used to treat cannabis.
Delaware’s top cannabis regulator presented to the Georgetown Town Council on steps to legalization.
Tennessee regulators have posted the slides from a webcast on taxation for hemp-based products containing cannabinoids.
On Thursday, Michigan regulators will hold an event to discuss the licensing process for marijuana businesses.
Washington State regulators are hosting stakeholder sessions on the medical cannabis rule next month.
