Delaware Gov. John Carney, a Democrat, has allowed marijuana regulation and legalization bills to go into effect without his signature. John Carney (D) vetoed the legalization of cannabis in 2013. However, new legislation has more than enough support for it to be overridden.

Sen. Cory Booker, (D-NJ), said that lawmakers are trying to “resurrect a package” of marijuana reform legislation that was passed during the last session. He acknowledged that the failure to pass a banking solution for this industry would “literally mean that hundreds of companies go out of business”.

Washington State lawmakers sent Gov. Jay Inslee’s (D) bill would protect job seekers from discrimination against marijuana during the hiring process.

The Colorado Senate Finance Committee approved and amended a bill that regulates psychedelics in accordance with a legalization law passed by voters.

This week, the Texas House of Representatives is set to vote on a decriminalization bill and a procedure for expunging cannabis convictions.

Oregon Health Authority has issued the first state-issued license for a psilocybin-testing laboratory in the United States.

New Jersey’s Senate President is considering changes to state marijuana laws one year after legalizing recreational use. This includes allowing some medical cannabis patients to grow a limited amount of cannabis at home.

Federal

In a meeting, President Joe Biden of the United States and Colombian president Gustavo Petro of Colombia committed to “a comprehensive approach” to address the negative impacts of drug abuse and drug trafficking, on the health and safety of our citizens, their environment, economy, rule-of-law, and the strength of democratic institutions.

As an example, Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke pointed to President Joe Biden’s proclamation of mass marijuana use as a way clemency could “address outdated criminal policies at the federal level, especially those that have disproportionately harmed communities of color.”

The U.S. has been elected as the president of the American Sports Council. It will also serve for two years on the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Sen. John Hickenlooper, D-CO, tweeted: “Colorado pioneered a successful legal cannabis market – the federal government should take our lead.”

Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND and Rep. Ruben Galego (D-AZ), discussed the prospects of cannabis banking legislation.

Sen. Jacky Rosen, (D-NV), tweeted: “In Nevada, legal cannabis small business have created jobs and boosted our economies, but they lack access to basic bank services & federal resource.”

At a prohibitionist gathering, former Rep. Patrick Kennedy said that “it’s become an article of belief of the Democrats that they are for commercialization marijuana. That saddens me.”

Former Rep. Greg Walden, R-OR, wrote an op-ed in which he called on Congress to pass federal cannabis reform legislation.

STATES

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, has directed the National Guard to take action against illegal drug dealers in San Francisco.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, (D), tweeted: “We are working hard to ensure Illinois’ cannabis sector is the most equitable in the country.”

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D), tweeted: “Happy canniversary, New Jersey!” Today marks one year since adult-use marijuana was first sold. “We will continue to promote the growth of a robust and thriving industry.”

On Tuesday, a former Michigan House Speaker is expected to enter a guilty plea in bribery charges involving the state’s licensing process for marijuana businesses.

Wisconsin’s Senate Minority Leader tweeted: “It isn’t a question of if, but when and how #cannabis can be legalized in Wisconsin.” She added, “Legalizing cannabis isn’t about the red or blue parties… it’s green opportunity for Wisconsin.”

Pennsylvania legislators filed four marijuana reform resolutions and bills.

North Carolina Senator said he’s “pretty sure” that a medical marijuana bill will pass in this session.

Louisiana regulators have proposed changes to the medical cannabis rules.

Nevada regulators released a Health and Safety Bulletin regarding cannabis products treated with an unapproved insecticide.

Minnesota regulators have issued a warning regarding mold growth in THC syrup bottles.

New York’s Health Department conducted a survey in order to determine public support for an outright ban on tobacco products.

The Tennessee Medical Cannabis Commission meets on Monday.

According to a poll, the majority of Britons (51%) and Americans (34%%) support the legalization of cannabis.
