Health and Human Services Sec. Xavier Becerra stated during a Senate Hearing that his department has a unique position to “update science” in order to ensure that drugs classified “properly” under federal law.

Vivek Ramaswamy, Republican presidential candidate, released a plan for veterans pledging “to de-schedule Schedule 1 drug restrictions which stand in the Veterans’ way to access substances that could assist their treatment and recovery, marijuana, ayahuasca/DMT and MDMA.”

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Shealy (D), filed a bill for the creation of a psychedelics group to study therapeutic potentials of substances such as psilocybin or MDMA. Meanwhile, activists work to place a legalization initiative on the ballot in 2024.

Michigan House Fiscal Agency reports that marijuana tax revenues grew 49.1 percent in the last fiscal, generating more money than alcohol for state coffers.

Maryland Cannabis Administration has begun accepting applications for the first round for adult-use cannabis dispensaries, cultivation and processing licences. These licenses are reserved exclusively for social-equity businesses.

Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection reports that recreational marijuana sales reached an all-time record high of $14.7 Million in October. However, overall cannabis transactions have decreased as the medical cannabis market continues to shrink.

Federal

Kim Kardashian reportedly called Donald Trump and asked him to support a call for clemency. She was apparently angry that she had voted for Joe Biden, the former president.

Sen. J.D. Vance (R – OH) stated that he is “not a big fan of recreational marijuana.”

Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-OR, tweeted: “A lot of exciting news coming out of Ohio in the last week!” I will continue to push for the SAFER Banking Act and will work to pair reforms that we make with funding to states who choose to expunge their cannabis records.

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), said Ohio’s legalization is “encouraging.”

On Wednesday, Illinois’ Senate Majority Leader will host a Cannabis Town Hall Meeting.

Wisconsin’s Senate Minority Leader tweeted: “If Wisconsin passed legalization, we would see almost $170 million in tax revenue annually.” This is tax revenue for our local communities, schools, roads and local governments.

California Assemblymember discusses upcoming legislation that will legalize therapeutic access for psychedelics.

South Dakota activists discussed plans for competing measures to be placed on the ballot in 2024 to legalize marijuana, and repeal the existing medical cannabis program.

The Indiana Court of Appeals reversed a man’s marijuana charge because the officials failed to provide any evidence of delta-9 THC concentration in joints, despite hemp being legal.

New York regulators have reached a settlement in principle of a lawsuit that challenged their licensing process for marijuana businesses. Separately they will host a meeting of the Cannabis Control Board on Friday and a workshop on Tuesday on operating and maintaining controlled environment marijuana cultivation.

Florida regulators have asked a court for dismissal of a lawsuit that challenges increased licensing fees for medical cannabis businesses.

Arizona regulators have filed revised marijuana regulations.

Pennsylvania regulators have begun searching for a new software company that can track and trace medical cannabis.

Texas regulators received more than 130 license applications to open medical cannabis dispensaries with low THC.

Vermont regulators will be hosting an event Wednesday on the changes to marijuana administrative rules.
