The Senate Banking Committee has approved a marijuana banking law. Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer (D, NY) has promised to bring the bill to the floor with amendments regarding expungements and firearm rights for cannabis users.

Senate Majority Schumer Schumer, (D-NY), said that he would bring the marijuana banking bill approved by the committee to the floor of the Senate “very soon”. However, a group Republican senators have stated they will fight against the measure.

A group of 22 attorneys general from both parties sent a letter to congressional leaders urging them to pass the marijuana banking legislation, which would improve public safety and help states collect taxes.

The New Democrat Coalition, a group of about 100 House Democrats who are pro-business and center-left and represent the New Democrat Coalition, is calling on Congress to use its next Farm Bill in order to reduce regulatory burdens for industrial hemp growers.

A new poll shows that 59 percent of Ohio voters are in favor of the legalization initiative for the November ballot.

After conducting polls, Massachusetts activists are now pursuing a more expansive measure which will allow people to grow their own entheogenic fungi and plants.

The American Medical Association published a study that examined the impact of Canada’s legalization on marijuana use among young adults at high risk. “Rather than finding increases, the results showed overall decreases,” the study found.


  • This study is in line with the research of U.S. jurisdictions that have found, largely, that legalization did not dramatically alter consumption patterns among young people and adults.

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, Attorney General Mike Hilgers and Secretary of State Bob Evnen have said that they are opposed to the request by Democratic Senators to create a “streamlined process” to pardon all marijuana convictions.

Federal

Sen. Dick Durbin, (D-IL), said that he knew a couple whose child died after consuming marijuana laced with fentanyl.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-OR, spoke of the growing support for reforming marijuana laws.

The Senate marijuana banking legislation now has 22 co-sponsors.

Ten new co-sponsors have been added to the 56 who already support the House bill for federal legalization of marijuana.

The Montana legislature’s Economic Affairs Interim Committee conducted an hearing on the state’s marijuana program.

Senators in Pennsylvania tweeted: “We are gearing up for Adult Use to be passed in Pennsylvania.” We may be slow, but we will get it right.

The Minnesota legislator who sponsored the law that legalized marijuana in the state says the top regulator of the program must have a solid regulatory background.

Michigan regulators released a bulletin regarding a recall due to the non-compliance of packaging and creation.

New York’s top cannabis regulator has said that he expects to see the state issue more than 1,000 licenses for marijuana businesses in an upcoming application round.

Massachusetts regulators have reacted to claims by lawmakers about “scandals”, with their oversight of marijuana industry.

Rhode Island regulators have published a bulletin about warnings that must be displayed in medical cannabis businesses.

Minnesota regulators reported that the state has now registered 1,250 hemp product businesses.

Oregon has ended two grants that were funded by a state law on drug decriminalization, which was approved by voters.

Alaska’s Advisory Task Force on Recreational Cannabis will meet on Tuesday.

Washington State regulators will be hosting discussions on the rulemaking regarding cannabis samples between October 6 and 11, 2018.
