A new Colorado law allowing online marijuana sales took effect on Monday.
Wisconsin’s Assembly Speaker said that his Republican caucus was drafting medical cannabis legislation, which “we hope to present this fall.” However, the Senate Minority Leader is skeptical the party will follow through. A Democratic lawmaker in Michigan tweeted that she had shopped at a marijuana dispensary on the weekend.
The Minnesota Representative who sponsored legislation to create a new Psychedelic Drug Task Force told Marijuana Moment he wasn’t concerned that appointments were delayed and the group missed a legally required August 1 deadline for its first meeting.
The study concluded that increasing the availability of cannabis products to treat pain and other symptoms could be an effective strategy for reducing exposure to opioids.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Pennsylvania Departments of Agriculture and Health held an event to discuss ways to grow and support the hemp industry in Pennsylvania.

The National Science Foundation has posted a podcast about the uses of hemp.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-MD, said that lawmakers were “working to resolve a few final issues” before advancing a marijuana banking legislation.
Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-MN, said that Minnesota’s new legalization of marijuana is “something to be celebrated.”
Rep. Mike Lawler, R-NY, tweeted: “Between the years 2019 and 2022 we have seen a sixfold increase of marijuana requests from children and teens aged 19 and younger. And a ninefold rise among those aged five and younger.” We must address the cannabis epidemic that is poisoning youth.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), tweeted: “On August 1 Minnesota became the 23rd State to legalize adult use cannabis – expanding the economy, creating new jobs, and regulating industry to keep Minnesotans safer. We will continue to work on moving Minnesota forward.” Separately a Republican Senator sent a release criticizing the new marijuana legalization laws in Minnesota.
The New York Senate Health Committee chairman, who is sponsoring legislation to allow safe consumption of illegal drugs in public places, has offered to show Gov. Kathy Hochul (D). Separately, in response to a lawsuit alleging that regulators had improperly given priority to people with previous convictions rather than disabled veterans or other groups, a court issued a temporary restraint order prohibiting them from issuing additional licenses for marijuana dispensaries.
Florida regulators have filed rules regarding hemp extract and kratom.
Vermont regulators have published guidelines on how to comply with cannabis-friendly events.
The Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission has warned that a program for psilocybin-training will be closed down if they continue to ignore a cease and desist order.
Maine regulators publish an annual report about the medical cannabis program.

A UK government spokeswoman responded to criticism that National Health Service (NHS) delays were driving people with ADHD towards using illicit cannabis as a treatment.

According to a review, “recent studies focused on non-psychoactive compounds in ovarian carcinoma and revealed promising preclinical results which indicate that these substances may have potential benefits for the treatment of cancers”.
CBD has anti-inflammatory properties and is partially antioxidative. This was shown in a study on rats.

Tilray Brands, Inc. has acquired eight beer and beverage brand names from Anheuser-Busch InBev.
Boris Jordan, Curaleaf’s Boris Jordan, said that a member of Jordan’s family died after smoking marijuana “laced with just a little fentanyl.”
