Georgia pharmacies providing medical cannabis oil to patients in compliance with state law are under threat from the Drug Enforcement Administration. The agency’s actions are not consistent with the congressionally-approved rider which states that the Department of Justice cannot interfere with state medical cannabis policies.

The Ohio Senate has made a dramatic reversal by passing a bill amending the marijuana legalization laws approved by voters. This bill maintains home-grown rights, adds expungements, and allows adults to buy cannabis in medical dispensaries as soon as the law is passed.

Massachusetts psychedelics advocates say that local election clerks in the state have certified that they have collected enough valid signatures for lawmakers to take into consideration a legalization measure in 2024. If the legislature does not act, it could be on the ballot.

Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management has taken the next step in crafting regulations for the newly-legal marijuana market by conducting a public survey to gather input from the public on testing, environmental controls and pesticides.

The Lubbock City Council in Texas scheduled a special election on May 4, 2024 for voters to vote on a ballot initiative decriminalizing marijuana.

The American Medical Association published a study that highlights “efficacy” and “safety” of psilocybin in treating bipolar disorder II. Participants showed “strong and persistant antidepressant effects.”

A new sponsor has been added to the House bill that allows Department of Veterans Affairs physicians to recommend medical marijuana. The total is now 28.

One new co-sponsor has been added to the House bill that creates a commission in preparation for federal marijuana legalization.

STATES

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, (D), tweeted, “As governor, I will make it my priority to bring people to work together in order to move forward things for our state.” We’re doing big things for our people, from legalized sports gambling to medical marijuana.

Oklahoma’s Attorney General wrote about his efforts in combating illegal marijuana-growing operations.

Kentucky’s House Majority Whip is calling for the federal government allow access to marijuana businesses banking and to reschedule Cannabis.

A Virginia Senator discusses the prospects of passing legislation to legalize cannabis sales.

Colorado regulators have issued a warning about marijuana products that contain yeast, mold or aspergillus in excess of the acceptable limit.

New Mexico’s top cannabis regulator speaks about enforcement against non-compliant businesses.

New York regulators held a town-hall meeting to discuss licenses for marijuana dispensaries that promote social equity. Separately a regulator discussed licensing for cannabis brands from out-of state.

Pennsylvania regulators have posted an update regarding the medical cannabis program.

Montgomery County officials in Maryland sent a message to Gov. Wes Moore (D), to pardon those who are in prison for certain marijuana crimes.

The Canadian regulators have published guidelines on cannabis products that contain intoxicating cannabinoids that are not delta-9-THC.

Leader of the German Social Democratic Party clarified a delay on a bill legalizing marijuana was not because there were problems with its content, but rather that lawmakers wanted to first address other budget issues.
