Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has published a report that details the economic benefits of marijuana legalization, such as the increase in state incomes, housing prices and populations. However, it also highlights the social costs of legalizing pot. These are “more concentrated” among individuals.

Officials in Jersey City, New Jersey are suing New Jersey’s state in federal court to keep the right to fire police officers who use marijuana. However, the complaint appears to ignore an important provision of federal firearms laws.

The Colombian president Gustavo Petro claimed that he smelled pot “on every street” during his recent trip to New York City. He cited the “enormous hysteria” of the legal cannabis sales taking place now in the country which launched the war on drugs many decades ago.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, signed legislation on changes to marijuana licensing laws and the distribution of fines from illegal operations. He also approved a bill establishing a cannabis task force.
