Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican candidate for president, said he would “respect” the state’s decisions on marijuana legalization despite his personal opinion that it has a negative impact.

Hawaii Attorney General Anne Lopez sent lawmakers a draft of a marijuana legalization bill. She said that, while she does not “support” the reform, she recognizes that the chances for it to pass have “increasingly increased” and she wants to make sure “key elements” were included.

Wisconsin Republican legislators unveiled legislation that would legalize the sale of non-smoking medical cannabis in state-run dispensaries, staffed by government employed pharmacists.

Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division touts new rules which went into effect on Monday. These allow for higher sales limits in hospitality/on-site businesses. The division also points to “successes”, such as the removal of the prohibition against online cannabis orders.

Former Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board executive director, said that marijuana social consumption rooms, which will open soon, are “the next frontier in the legal cannabis industry”.

Senators from both parties in Washington have filed a bill that would legalize the use of psilocybin by veterans and first responders. The psychedelics would be administered by nonprofits staffed by facilitators who are licensed in Oregon, the neighboring state that has a more extensive program.

New research shows that high-achieving students are more likely to apply to colleges in states where marijuana is legalized.

Federal

The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear the case of an immigrant from El Salvador whose involvement in a marijuana business that was legalized by her state barred her naturalization.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) highlighted a psychedelics workshops being held on January 31 and Febraury 1 by a nonprofit created by Congress.

STATES

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D), the New Jersey Governor, signed a law allowing drug harm-reduction centers to distribute more supplies.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, a Democrat, tweeted that the legalization of medical cannabis was a major accomplishment. He said, “Together we’re building an Kentucky that works for all.”

New Jersey’s Senate President reportedly stated that legalizing medical marijuana home cultivation “definitely won’t happen this session.”

Indiana legislators are optimistic that marijuana legislation will be passed this session.

On Wednesday, Connecticut legislators will take part in a forum about psilocybin.

A judge in Alabama is evaluating a motion for discovery filed as part of a lawsuit that challenges the licensing process for medical cannabis businesses.

Minnesota law enforcement agencies have begun training in the use of roadside drug and cannabis testing.

Vermont regulators have posted information on how to renew a marijuana business license.

Washington State regulators ask people to fill out a cannabis survey.

The Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Advisory Board has posted the schedule of its meetings for this year.
