Jimmy Kimmel, late-night host and comedian, has declared that Snoop Dogg’s birthday on October 20, this Friday, is the “new high-holiday” of DoggFather’s Day.
Kimmel revealed in a mock-proclamation on Jimmy Kimmel live on Thursday that “Mr. Dogg’s birthdate falls exactly at the midpoint of 4/20, a coincidence which is totally freaking me out.
Kimmel explained the origins of the 4/20 celebration to Snoop. “We sing Halfy Birthday and we have half of a cake,” he said. ‘”
He looked at his calendar, and saw that it was “my friend Snoop’s birthday on October 20th,” he said. It blew my mind. “It absolutely blew my mind. ‘”
Kimmel pulled out a large, oversized document from a box of rolling papers that was carried by Kimmel’s sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez and read the text:
Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. (also known as Snoop Dogg) has contributed significantly to the popularization and acceptance of marijuana, also called weed, pot ganja, herb bud trees, cheeba kush chronic, reefer, Dank, sticky icky-icky, and jolly, green gigglesticks.
The fact that Mr. Dogg’s birthday falls exactly at the midway point of 4/20 is a miracle. This coincidence has me totally baffled right now.
To pay tribute, we encourage all tokers to raise their goblets filled with Gin N’ Juice and their blunts. We also encourage them to scooby, scooby, scooby, scooby, share Satan’s Spinach, as I, Jizzimy, declare the 20th of October DoggFather’s Day.
Kimmel then encouraged the audience to bow their heads and join him in concluding, “Bow-Wow-Wow Yippie-Yo-Yippie-Yay-men.” He presented Snoop with what he said was the new “Presidential Medal of Weedom.”
Snoop said that he had been speechless at first, but then addressed “one nation under the bud leaf,” and said, “We’re gonna blow one for a po’ one,” while pantomiming a blunt.
Kimmel’s conversation with Snoop Dogg wasn’t entirely about cannabis but the majority of it was. Snoop’s love of marijuana was discussed at one point. Kimmel said, “Isn’t that your green card to every country?”
Snoop added, “It is good to have international friends who can get you medicated and dedicated, no matter where you are.”
Kimmel asked Snoop where he knew people who could help him get cannabis. Snoop replied that he had connections in Mexico, Ireland and India. He also mentioned Estonia. Snoop replied, “I probably have some people there.”
Kimmel asked, “What about North Korea?” Snoop, who initially confused it with South Korea, admitted that this was the limit.
Snoop is a familiar face in the marijuana world, and his popularity has grown as more states legalize cannabis. In October of 2019, Snoop Dogg and actor Seth Rogen were on The Howard Stern Show four years ago to give smoking advice to new cannabis users.
He said that he paid someone between $40,000 to $50,000 per year for them to roll blunts, which Rogan appeared to confirm.
Rogen described the employee as someone who “knows how to gauge a person’s look when they seem like they are ready for a blunt and if that is the case, he will give you one.”
Snoop replied: “Timing.” The timing of that motherfucker is impeccable.”
Snoop’s positions on reform have sometimes been more serious. For example, in 2021 he asked sports leagues not to test players for marijuana, but to allow them to use instead of opioids.
He applauded in April this year the National Basketball Association for reports that it would remove cannabis off its list of prohibited substances.
He stated that he was in favor of the reform because it would be “healthy and could help to ease the pain from the pills and injections that were given, as well as the opioids that have been prescribed.”
He said that as long as the treatment doesn’t improve your abilities to play better or give you an edge, you can treat and heal yourself.
