According to the Office of Cannabis Policies (OCP) of Maine, the sales of adult-use cannabis in Maine has already broken a record for the first eleven months of 2023. Nearly $200 million in legal cannabis products were sold in that time period.
Through November, says the office’s website, $197,561,133.53 worth of recreational products have been sold over 3,434,477 transactions–315,978 of which occurred last month. The average flower price for the calendar year up to November is $7.81 per grams, or $27.34 per eighth. Prices were slightly lower in November than the average for the year, at $7.52 a gram.

According to data, “Usable Cannabis” (or marijuana flower) continued to lead the market, surpassing concentrates, infused products, and plants.
Maine Public Radio reports that the roughly $200 million legal recreational cannabis sales through November are already $40 million higher than what was sold by 2022.
John Hudak of OCP told the outlet that, while falling marijuana prices can “appeal to consumers,” they “can also make it harder for businesses to operate.” We’re beginning to see it.”
Since August, Maine has steadily decreased its sales of adult-use marijuana since it set a fourth consecutive month record.
In 2020 , the legal retail sale of marijuana to adults will begin in the state. This is four years after the voters approved this policy change.
Gov. Janet Mills, a Democrat, signed into law a bill that allows licensed marijuana businesses to claim state tax deductions in an attempt to work around the Internal Revenue Service code 280E which prohibits these deductions on the federal level.
This year, the legislature passed several other cannabis reforms, which included bills championed a GOP rookie lawmaker who was a marijuana activist in the past, to protect gun ownership rights for cannabis users and increase their personal plant number.
In October, Portland, the largest city in the state, adopted a resolution that stresses the importance of treating the use and ownership of all controlled substances as a matter of public health .
