The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network of the Treasury Department has released new data that shows a record number of credit unions and banks are actively serving marijuana businesses. Next week, a Senate committee will vote to approve a cannabis banking law.

Florida activists are gathering signatures to support an initiative that would allow home medical cannabis cultivation. Some dispensaries have offered their assistance. The initiative comes at a time when the Florida Supreme Court is deciding whether or not a separate marijuana-legalization measure will appear on the ballot in 2024.

The Cannabis Regulators Association has sent a request to Congress for certain changes in the laws surrounding hemp and cannabinoids, through the upcoming 2023 Farm Bill.

The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission accepts public comments on proposed regulations that would allow “clinically focused marijuana businesses” to partner with researchers in order to conduct studies on products they sell or grow.

Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission conducted a second public hearing on a proposal that would spend at least 42 million dollars researching ibogaine for addiction treatment. A vote is expected to be held in November. The money is from settlements reached with pharmaceutical companies.

The Alaska House Labor and Commerce Committee conducted a hearing to discuss a bill that would reduce the effective marijuana tax rate by replacing the per-ounce tax in place with a sales taxes.

Harm Reduction International found that governments around the world spent $974 million on aid in support of the drug war over the last decade, more than they did for food security, early child education, labor rights, mental health, or even early childhood education.

The office of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), criticized Oregon’s and California’s policies which decriminalized or reduced penalties for drug use.

Sen. James Lankford, R-OK, discussed the letter he wrote to urge the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to reject its recommendation that marijuana be rescheduled.

Angela Alsobrooks (currently the county executive of Prince George’s) a Maryland Democratic Senate candidate and currently Prince George’s County Executive, stated once that “decriminalization has really been driving the violence we’ve seen this year in Prince George’s.”

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Shealey (D), filed a supplemental Budget that corrects the transfer mechanism of the Cannabis Social Equity Trust Fund. Separately lawmakers have called for an oversight hearing to be held by the Cannabis Control Commission. In the absence of its suspended chair, regulators held an explosive public meeting.

Kansas’ Senate president expressed concern about the legalization of medical cannabis.

New York Assembly Majority Leader spoke on the state’s new law protecting cannabis users in the workplace.

Wisconsin’s Senate Minority Leader, who is a marijuana advocate, has launched the second leg in her “Grass Routes Tour”.

Tuesday, the Wyoming Judiciary Committee of the Wyoming legislature will examine a proposal that would effectively ban products containing delta-8 THC.

Hawaii’s House Committee on Human Services chairman cited medical marijuana as an alternative to opioids.

South Dakota regulators accept public comments on proposed changes to medical marijuana rules.

Washington, D.C. regulators have issued more medical cannabis business permits.

Michigan regulators published a report every month on the disciplinary measures taken against marijuana businesses.

Vermont regulators are likely to hold marijuana business seminars from early November through mid-November.

The Philadelphia City Council, Pennsylvania overrode Mayor’s veto on a bill that would have prevented some medical cannabis dispensaries selling recreational marijuana in the event of statewide legalization.

This month, the Dover City Council in Delaware is expected to decide whether to regulate cannabis businesses or to ban them.
