SANTA FÉ, N.M. data now shows sales for June 2023 have reached a new high of $33 million.
Bernice Geiger is the spokesperson for the Cannabis Control Division. She said that the consistency of sales was an indication that New Mexicans continued to support the cannabis industry.
Albuquerque retailers account for a significant portion of sales. A KRQE News 13 investigation found that the number of cannabis shops in the city has now surpassed liquor stores.
Albuquerque has sold more than $124 millions worth of recreational marijuana since sales began in April last year. Data from the Cannabis Control Division show that Las Cruces and Santa Fe retailers sold more than 28 million dollars worth of cannabis in each city.
The state regulators are working hard to make sure that all retailers follow the rules. Geiger reports that the Cannabis Control Division has conducted over 700 inspections.
If we learn that an out-of state licensee has illegal cannabis, we immediately launch an investigation. We will also take legal action if we find violations. Geiger says that the CCD will turn over any evidence of product sales out of state to the Department of Public Safety of Washington and local law enforcement agencies for investigation as a crime.
The regulators took action against several cannabis firms. On the CCD website , you can find a list of enforcement measures.
