New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, a Republican, signed a bill establishing a commission that will draft legislation to legalize the sale of marijuana through a state-run store system. The proposal must be submitted by December 1 for legislators to consider in 2024.

Officials with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration have said that the ongoing prohibition of marijuana makes their job “complicated”, when it comes to ensuring worker safety in the cannabis industry.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a presidential candidate for 2024, signed a bill that was little known that banned marijuana advertisements that promote “recreational use”–a measure that could create complications if voters approve a legalization of adult-use cannabis that may be on the ballot in 2024.

Minnesota Republican legislators sent another letter expressing their “disappointment” with Governor. Tim Walz and Democratic legislative leadership have been criticized for their “reluctance to address glaring flaws” in the new state marijuana legalization legislation.

The Food and Drug Administration wants to know if nitrous dioxide and other drugs are restricted by international drug control treaties.

A New York Judge issued a temporary order halting the issuance of new marijuana dispensary licences. The program favors people who have previous cannabis convictions. This is in response to a legal challenge by a group veterans, who claim they should be allowed priority licensing.

Federal

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York has said that he will consider enforcement actions against sites where illegal drugs can be consumed safely in New York City.

STATES

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D), signed a law increasing penalties for those who “cause death to another human being through the manufacture, distribution or delivery of certain drugs, or by administering, assisting in administering, or administering them”

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, tweeted: “Criminalizing marijuana hasn’t been successful.” Minnesota acknowledged this and took a different direction. We legalized cannabis for adults and are expunging all nonviolent cannabis convictions.

The Colorado Office of the State Auditor released a report that concluded regulators must improve “processes to prioritize retail marijuana store inspections.”

Missouri regulators have sent out an alert regarding potential scams involving marijuana microbusiness licenses.

Massachusetts marijuana regulators have reportedly prohibited a journalist from answering questions because of his advocacy work.

Michigan regulators want to hear more about proposed rules which would allow marijuana businesses who voluntarily take part in incentive programs based on certifications to receive testing allowances.

New York regulators discussed the need for strict cannabis regulations to protect consumers.

Utah’s Medical Cannabis Establishment Licensing Board is meeting on Wednesday.

Alabama regulators will likely award licenses to medical cannabis businesses on Thursday.
