Ohio voters have approved a ballot initiative to legalize marijuana, making it the 24th state in the U.S. that has ended cannabis prohibition.
The House Appropriations Committee has urged the Department of Justice (DOJ) to review the “adequacy of state marijuana laws” while also allowing researchers access to cannabis products available on legal markets.

Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden (DOR) applauded the passage of the spending bill that included funding for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to partner with institutions doing biotech and genome research to improve the hemp genetic research and breeders with new techniques. They said “hemp is quickly becoming one of Oregon’s top cash crops.”
Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) tweeted about meeting with members of the American Psychedelic Practitioners Association, saying, “Psychedelic-assisted therapy can be an effective tool for mental health care.”
A total of 93 people have now co-sponsored the House marijuana banking legislation.
