The President Joe Biden has issued a new Proclamation that expands his initiative for marijuana pardons to include offenses committed on federal property.

Vice President Kamala Harris, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, Sen. John Fetterman and other federal and State officials from across the country have praised President Joe Biden’s expanded mass cannabis pardon.

The National Defense Authorization Act signed by President Joe Biden includes provisions to fund clinical trials of psychedelics, such as psilocybin or MDMA, for active duty service members suffering from traumatic brain injury and PTSD.

California, New York and New Jersey officials are engaging cannabis users with holiday messages. They include how to gift marijuana as a Christmas present, make infused cookies for Christmas and keep products safe.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), the New York Governor, vetoed a bill that would have permitted marijuana farmers to sell their products to tribal cannabis retailers.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, is calling on lawmakers to fix a “ridiculous” situation where marijuana is legal for possession and use now but there is no place to buy regulated products. He wants to redirect the revenue towards law enforcement.

Sens. Bob Casey (D) and John Fetterman, along with Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-PA, led a bipartisan group of 15 lawmakers to send a letter urging the Biden Administration to include American Marc Fogel who is currently imprisoned for medical marijuana in Russia, in future prisoner exchanges.

California Legislative Analyst’s Office estimates that a ballot initiative for psychedelics’ legalization proposed in 2024 may “result a net loss of hundreds of millions in tax revenue related to cannabis.”

According to a study, the majority of American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSM) members have “generally favorable attitudes towards CBD and cannabis”, and believe that marijuana should be removed off the World Anti-Doping Agency list of banned substances for athletes.

The Oregon Secretary of State’s Office conducted an audit and found that decriminalizing drugs, as approved by voters, has led to the growth of treatment services for addiction. However, the state could do more to improve the management of the program.

Federal

Sen. Rand Paul (RKY) in his Festivus annual report on government waste called out an experiment that fed methamphetamines to monkeys.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) tweeted, “Legalize Hemp.”

Oregon regulators adopted psilocybin services rules.

Louisiana regulators have filed a change to the medical cannabis rules.

Colorado regulators are examining whether animal manure can be used to cultivate psilocybin mushroom.
