Sherrod Brown, the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee (D-OH), said that an agreement on a cannabis bank bill was “imminent.” The office of Sen. Steve Daines’ (R-MT), the lead GOP sponsor for the bill, told Marijuana Moment the lawmakers had “very fruitful discussions over the recess.”
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has approved a referendum on marijuana legalization, which puts the tribe in a position to become the first legal seller of cannabis for recreational use within North Carolina and any other neighboring states.
California lawmakers sent Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) bill legalizing possession and cultivation certain psychedelics. The governor has been vocally critical of the war on drugs and has long supported marijuana legalization.
