Reps. Dave Joyce (R-OH), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-NY), filed a bipartisan legislation to ease state and local marijuana expulsions backed by federal funds.

James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee (R-KY), has launched an investigation into FDA’s refusal to regulate CBD-containing products. He is demanding that the agency hand over all documents relating to this decision to Congress before May 1.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), is launching a public education campaign called “Why Buy Legal”, to encourage people to buy marijuana from licensed retailers to ensure that the products are safe, and to use revenue to further equity and reinvestment objectives.

The president and chief executive of Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America authored a recent op-ed in Marijuana Moment, calling on Congress for federal legalization of cannabis by using the lessons learned after nearly a hundred years of regulating liquor.

Snoop Dogg reportedly praised the National Basketball Association for removing marijuana from their banned substances list.

The Florida House Infrastructure Strategies Committee modified a hemp product regulations bill to remove THC limits that were originally in the legislation.

The Missouri House General Laws Committee conducted a hearing to discuss a bill that would regulate delta-8 THC-derived hemp products.

Federal

The Drug Enforcement Administration published an article entitled, “15 Things that the Cannabis Industry doesn’t want you to know.”

Two new co-sponsors have been added to the House bill that creates a commission in preparation for federal marijuana legalization.

One new co-sponsor was added to the six who had previously signed on to the House bill requiring that Veterans Affairs study medical marijuana.

A new sponsor has been added to the 18 co-sponsors of the House bill allowing CBD as a nutritional supplement.

STATES

Oklahoma’s Attorney General said that without a crackdown on illegal marijuana growing sites, “our children and grandchildren will not have a compelling reason to remain in Oklahoma.”

The Oregon Senate has passed a law requiring psilocybin service providers to provide demographic information about their clients to state officials. Separately the Senate and House minorities are pressing Gov. Tina Kotek, a Democrat, wants to include marijuana dispensaries in the scope of the investigation of the Liquor and Cannabis Commission.

The Indiana Senate has rejected an amendment that would have created a Cannabis Commission to prepare for federal cannabis legalization.

The Louisiana Senate Agriculture Committee has approved a bill that will reduce the maximum THC content in hemp products for consumption.

Montana lawmakers are currently considering two bills that have differing provisions regarding how marijuana tax revenues should be allocated.

Arizona’s representative talked about the importance of passing a bill to fund psilocybin-related research.

Michigan regulators distributed a bulletin on tracking marijuana giveaways in advance of 4/20.

Massachusetts regulators have launched a social media campaign ahead of 4/20 in order to remind people “of ways we all contribute to a safe, effective, and equitable regulated cannabis industry.”

The Colorado Natural Medicine Advisory Board’s subcommittees will meet next week and this week. Separately regulators released a flyer containing “friendly reminders” about 4/20.

Alabama regulators have said that medical cannabis will be available for patients in mid-fall, or by early next year.

In March, New York collected $1.18 Million in sales taxes on recreational marijuana.
