102 Cities Have Sold Cannabis in New Mexico. 16 of Them No Longer Do.

Over 52 months, 102 different New Mexico cities have reported cannabis sales. In July 2026, 86 did.

The distribution is extremely lopsided. Albuquerque is 29 percent of the state by itself. The top five cities are 58 percent. And then there is a very long tail: Corrales did $1,844 in July. Pena Blanca did $616. Waterflow reported zero.

The towns that punch above their weight

Ranked by sales per resident rather than raw sales, the list looks completely different, and it is almost entirely border and highway towns:

• Sunland Park, population roughly 17,000, second largest cannabis market in the state
• Jal, population roughly 2,000, near the Texas line
• Texico, on the state border, named for exactly the reason you would guess
• Angel Fire and Red River, ski towns, where the buyers are tourists rather than residents

Every one of these is a place where the customer base is much larger than the population, either because a state line runs nearby or because a highway does. We looked at that border pattern in detail here.
