New Mexico does not require residency to buy adult-use cannabis. If you are 21 or older with valid photo ID, a licensed shop will serve you the same as a local. The hard parts for visitors are consumption and travel, not the purchase.
ID that works
Any unexpired government-issued photo ID showing you are 21+: a state driver's license, a passport, a military ID, or a foreign passport. Shops scan or visually verify at the door — expect to show it every visit.
What and how much
Your visitor limits are the same as a resident's: two ounces of flower, 16 grams of concentrate, 800 mg of edibles at any one time in public. Budget accordingly if you are buying for a trip.
Where you can actually consume it
Not in your rental car, not on the street, not in a national park, and usually not in your hotel room. Some properties allow smoking in designated areas; a growing number of licensed consumption lounges exist. Filter the directory for lounges before you plan your evening.
Do not take it home
